LIFE AFTER THE STUDY ACADEMY

Graduates from The Study Academy have successfully enrolled in and completed a wide variety of post-secondary programs. A strong majority of our alums have attended competitive and innovative university programs, some have pursued their passions with international developmental projects during a gap year, while others have taken steps along their well-defined career paths by attending specific college programs.

The Study Academy is a magical place that lifts kids up and supports them in their academic journey. We found The Study when we were researching schools that would honour and lovingly challenge our son who is a gifted learner with ADHD. Traditional academic philosophies were missing the mark when it came to working with and championing the 2e student. Our son has blossomed at The Study. Every year I am reminded time and time again, of what this school has done for our family—given us the gift of an environment where our child feels heard, respected, challenged and championed. We are eternally grateful to Bryan Levy-Young and his team at The Study Academy for being true leaders in this area of education. May they continue to inspire us all!

We wanted to take a moment and thank you very much for a terrific school year for Sam.

It’s not easy to start at a new school, and your terrific staff ensured a smooth transition for Sam. He was always happy to go to school—even excited! The way the Study Academy manages the curriculum of academics, field trips, and experiential learning is right up Sam’s alley. Sam told me early on that he felt the teachers “knew what they were doing and really understood students” (he can be very critical of this, so this is high praise!).

For the first time ever we found him to be truly interested and engaged in learning. Reading and writing is still a struggle for him, however, the team certainly made it much more palatable and kept him engaged throughout the year.

When we first came to you, we were really scared for our son. But you welcomed him in your calm, cheerful, professional way. You and your team helped him navigate the choppy waters of adolescence, both academically and socially. Now he is not only an Ontario Scholar, but also someone who accepts he has to keep his shoes on at school. Huge progress! We are very touched that you honoured his journey with a Founder's Award.

I still to this day remember our first meeting with you when Aaron and I were in a bad place after pulling D out of her former school. Sitting in your office and hearing you talk about your school resonated so strongly with me and was everything I ever wanted for D.

Fast forward 4 years later. I am thrilled that it was you and your team nurturing, educating and allowing her to become the young woman she is today.

Daniela, Aaron and I were so shocked and honoured by you awarding her The Founders Award. Without your constant support and encouragement regarding her ballet training none of this would have been possible.

I thank you and your amazing team for everything from the very first days to the last days online. All of your dedication and care have been phenomenal throughout these last three months.

Thank you so much for the Citizenship Award delivery today! I am so beyond impressed with this school and all of the hard work that the staff put in. I was in tears reading the letter. I remember being in tears when I first called Bryan a little over a year ago because I wasn't sure there were any school options for Hugo. And Bryan you were so calm and kind and reassuring. I'm sure The Study Academy makes this type of difference in many kids' lives, but it really changed ours completely for the better. I'm not saying we're "out of the woods" and we won't have hurdles to come (because - 13 year olds!) - but this boost in Hugo's confidence in his ability will serve him so well in the years to come.

Sarah and I want to thank you all for the incredible work you have done this year and for everything that you have done for Alex. Before we came to the Study, Alex had lost any hope that school could be a welcoming and supportive place for them. It wasn’t just that they didn’t think they could succeed, it was that they didn’t believe that they even wanted to and they didn’t believe that anybody could help them. This year has had its ups and downs, and we know that we have a ton of work ahead of us to continue helping Alex to grow into the resilient, healthy and happy person we all want them to be. We also know that steady progress and not magical breakthroughs is the measure of success. But the truly incredible change for which we are so grateful is that Alex believes that all of you care about them and want to support them, and Alex wants to do well both for themselves and for you. I have to say that that feels pretty magical, and it has been a huge relief for our family.
